Your 9 day lemosho kilimanjaro adventure begins with a warm welcome at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO). A professional driver will pick you up and transfer you to Green Mountain Hotel in Arusha.
During the drive you may see spectacular views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru, depending on cloud conditions. The hotel is located about 55 kilometers from the airport. Arusha, often called the safari capital of Tanzania, has a pleasant tropical climate and a population of nearly 5 million people in the region.
Once at the hotel, you will relax and later meet our mountain team for a briefing about your upcoming 9 day lemosho kilimanjaro climb.
After breakfast and a final briefing from our climb managers, your 9 day lemosho kilimanjaro trek officially begins. You will drive approximately 3–4 hours to Londorossi Gate (2,200 m), the western entrance of Kilimanjaro National Park.
After completing park formalities and registration with the rescue services, you will begin trekking through the lush rainforest toward Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,780 m).
Rain jackets are recommended since this section of the 9 day lemosho-kilimanjaro route passes through dense forest. Upon arrival at camp, our mountain crew will set up tents and prepare lunch.
In the afternoon you will take a short acclimatization hike toward Shira 1 Camp, gaining about 300 meters in altitude, before returning to camp for a warm dinner.
After breakfast you will continue the 9 day lemosho-kilimanjaro climb with a gradual ascent to Shira 1 Camp (3,505 m).
Along the way you will leave the rainforest behind and enter the heath and moorland zone, offering spectacular views of the Shira Plateau and Kibo Volcano.
This trek usually takes 5–6 hours and helps your body begin adjusting to higher altitude. Upon arrival at camp, our team will prepare lunch while you relax or explore the surrounding landscape.
Today’s hike is relatively gentle as you trek from Shira 1 Camp (3,505 m) to Shira 2 Camp (3,900 m).
This section of the 9 day lemosho-kilimanjaro route offers incredible panoramic views of Kilimanjaro’s highlands and unique mountain vegetation.
Weather permitting, you may also see Mount Meru, the fifth-highest mountain in Africa. After arriving at camp and having lunch, you will take an acclimatization hike toward Lava Tower, gaining about 300 meters before returning to Shira 2 Camp.
Today is an important acclimatization day during your 9 day lemosho-kilimanjaro climb.
After breakfast you will trek to Lava Tower (4,630 m). This section involves several ascents and descents and may feel challenging due to the altitude.
You will spend 1–2 hours at Lava Tower to help your body adjust before descending to Barranco Camp (3,960 m).
At camp you will see the impressive Barranco Wall, one of the most famous landmarks on the 9 day lemosho-kilimanjaro route.
You will start the day early by climbing the famous Barranco Wall. Although it looks steep, the trail is manageable and takes about one hour to reach the top.
From there you will enjoy stunning views of Kibo Volcano before continuing across valleys and ridges toward Karanga Camp.
The hike includes several ascents and descents, but our experienced guides maintain a steady pace throughout this stage of the 9 day lemosho-kilimanjaro trek.
In the afternoon you will take a short acclimatization hike toward Barafu Camp before returning to Karanga Camp for the night.
After breakfast you will hike to Barafu Camp (4,640 m), the base camp for the summit attempt.
This camp serves as the starting point for the final push to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After arriving, our team will set up camp and prepare meals.
Later you will complete a short acclimatization hike toward Kosovo Camp (4,800 m) before returning to Barafu.
Spend the rest of the day resting and preparing mentally and physically for the summit attempt during your 9 day lemosho kilimanjaro expedition.
Your summit attempt begins around midnight from Barafu Camp.
This is the most challenging yet rewarding day of the 9 day lemosho kilimanjaro climb as you trek slowly toward Uhuru Peak (5,895 m).
Each pair of climbers is accompanied by a guide who monitors your condition throughout the ascent.
After reaching the summit and celebrating at the Roof of Africa, you will descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest before continuing to Millennium Camp (3,820 m).
The final day of your 9 day lemosho kilimanjaro adventure takes you through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate (1,650 m).
After breakfast you will begin the descent to the park exit. At the gate you will receive your summit certificates and celebrate your successful Kilimanjaro climb.
You will then be transferred back to the hotel in Arusha. The following day you can relax before your transfer to the airport.
